In the course of originating and managing loans and credit facilities, personal information may be obtained from clients or about clients via third parties. The collection of the information is only undertaken with consent and for those that use the Company’s financial services. This information provides the necessary details to secure financing or credit. Personal information is shared with third parties only as described in the Electronic Communication, Verification, and Identity Confirmation section below, or otherwise with the client’s consent or as required by law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At times, clients or their customers may use personal credit cards to pay for products or services provided to their business. The credit card information used in these transactions is processed through our banking facilities. Details of each transaction and the authorization thereof are retained for a period of 10 years for auditing purposes. All credit card information is secured physically and restricted to only Company employees who require access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We may collect and use personal information with the person\u2019s consent or as permitted or required by law and in alignment with Canada’s Anti-Spam Law (CASL). This may include using personal email addresses or phone numbers for the purpose of electronic communication unrelated to a specific loan application or account. Consent may be express or implied, depending on the circumstances and the sensitivity of the personal information in question. At any point, recipients may opt out of receiving Commercial Electronic Messages (CEMs) from us by clicking on the Unsubscribe button on the bottom of our CEMs. We take full accountability and responsibility for CASL compliance. In addition, website analysis statistics are made available to information technology staff and management for the purpose of monitoring the Company’s web traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By submitting a credit application, applicants, shareholder(s), guarantor(s), and any other individuals or entities listed in the application (including financial advisors, financial institutions, accounting firms, law firms, insurance companies or agents, and credit insurance companies) authorize Accord to communicate with them electronically by email or SMS, using any contact details provided at the time of application or subsequently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Accord engages third-party service providers to verify that the email addresses and phone numbers associated with parties to a credit application are valid, active, and properly attributed. By submitting an application, applicants permit Accord to share the relevant names and contact information with these providers for that purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Accord uses third-party service providers to verify the identity of the company, its shareholders, guarantors, directors, officers, signing authorities, and other associated individuals. This may involve sharing information such as name, date of birth, residential and business address, and government-issued identification details, in order to meet identity verification, fraud prevention, anti-money laundering, and “know your client” obligations. These providers may draw on their own databases, public records, telecommunications carriers, and credit reporting agencies, and may retain records of verification performed in accordance with their own policies and applicable law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This consent applies to information provided at the time of application and any information later provided to or obtained by Accord and remains in effect for the duration of the relationship and thereafter as needed to fulfill these purposes or as required by law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Accord will only email clients from addresses ending in @accordfinancial.com. Any email purporting to be from Accord that does not originate from this domain should be deleted and reported to an Accord representative. Phone numbers used for SMS communication can be verified on request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Electronic communications carry inherent risks, including interception, phishing\/spoofing, accidental data leakage, lack of encryption, unauthorized access to stored messages, and the fact that information sent to third-party verification providers is processed outside Accord’s own systems and is subject to those providers’ security practices. By choosing to communicate electronically, clients accept these risks. To the extent permitted by law, Accord is not liable for loss or damage arising from interception, delay, corruption, misdirection, or non-receipt of electronic communications, or from the acts of third-party verification providers, except where caused by Accord’s own gross negligence or willful misconduct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All the Company’s offices have building security and an after business hours locked door policy. Computer room facilities are secured by lock, only authorized personnel will be granted access. The Company’s networks are secured by firewalls and protected by antivirus and malware software, kept up-to-date against emerging threats; in some cases, redundant firewalls and duplicate threat scanning are used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Any personal information that is no longer required is either permanently deleted, shredded or destroyed. Any hard drives of electronic equipment such as personal computers, faxes, scanners are scrubbed before they are disposed of or leave the premises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
